The St. Louis area will soon have a unique new option, as locally owned Allegro Senior Living is currently taking reservations for its newest community. Located in Richmond Heights, Allegro has been designed with the look and feel of a luxury boutique hotel.
“Allegro’s apartment-style residences have features that are normally found in a typical multi-family community, including modern appliances and granite countertops, walk-in closets, and separate heating and cooling systems for each residence,” said Terri Matheis, Lead Senior Living Advisor for Allegro. “Senior living has evolved and Allegro is meeting these higher expectations at our new community.”
With recent census data and media reports highlighting the St. Louis region’s growing senior population – by 2045, twenty-five percent of the regional population will be over 65 – the need for senior living communities is growing rapidly. Allegro offers a luxury residence that also caters to seniors looking to maintain an active lifestyle in a centrally located neighborhood.
“Residents shouldn’t have to compromise their lifestyle just because they need more help,” added Matheis. “Allegro feels like a high-end boutique hotel but our smaller size provides a real sense of attention to each resident.”
The four-story Allegro will contain 87 units, including 26 residences dedicated to serving individuals affected by dementia or Alzheimer’s. The building, designed and built by St. Louis company Lawrence Group, features large energy-efficient windows, abundant natural light, and Wi-Fi throughout. Amenities include a spa, beauty salon and barber shop, exercise room, lounges, a stadium theater for movie viewing, and a rooftop deck for memory care residents.
Fine dining is also the new trend in senior living and Allegro is leading the way. By naming Mark Krystopa to oversee its dining services, the company is highlighting the premium it is placing on its dining experience. Krystopa holds decades of experience in hotel and private club dining.
“Allegro’s first-rate dining program will emphasize fresh cuisine, unique and seasonal menu options, and nutritional ingredients that cater to the precise needs of seniors,” said Krystopa, Vice President of Dining Services for Allegro.
“We will bring farm-to-table elements to our residents’ dining experience, partnering whenever possible with local farms and farmers markets. We will also provide multiple dining options, including outdoor dining and a bistro with a full bar.”
In addition to its luxury amenities, the community is centrally located to promote outings to the nearby restaurants, stores, parks, and services along Clayton Road in Richmond Heights. The community will also have its own small park-like area on site to provide green space for residents.
Allegro and its Ensemble Program also place a priority and focus on music and the arts.
“Ensemble focuses on the whole person, assembling mind, body, and spirit to create a ‘melody’ of stimulating and meaningful life experiences,” said Angela Sweet, Executive Director at Allegro. “Our unique programming brings our philosophy to life, making use of music and the arts to help our residents remain active and independent.”
This philosophy is most evident in Allegro’s memory care services, where its signature Ensemble program is designed to bring out the best in every person.
“Our Ensemble neighborhood includes small, intimate areas with stations like wood working and gardening that are designed to help stimulate and evoke positive memories for our memory care residents.”
Ensemble also makes use of tactile and audio artwork that is interactive and makes sounds and plays music to get memory care residents active and moving. Technology is employed through a touch screen on which residents can play brain games, bring up music concerts, or even transport themselves to new environments.
“Residents can use the screen to virtually attend mass at the Vatican or even visit Paris. It’s truly remarkable,” said Sweet.
First occupancy at Allegro is expected in the fall of 2018. The visitor center is open on the construction site at 1055 Bellevue Avenue in Richmond Heights. For more information about Allegro located in Richmond Heights, please call 314-332-8372 or visit www.allegroliving.com.
